As a qualified Canicross Coach (1 of the first 9 in the world) I am passionate about delivering fitness sessions for dogs and their humans!
About me
I have over 16 years teaching experience including a special interest and in outdoor education (BSc Joint Honours degree in sport and Outdoor Studies, PGCE in Primary Education and Forest Schools Level 3). I have been running for over 4 years and organising canicross social runs for 3 years. I enjoy competing for fun in running and canicross events with my longest event being the Virtual London Marathon with my dogs in 2021. I am an experienced walker and enjoy hiking solo and group hikes. In October 2021 I became a certified Canicross Coach and Nose and Paws Active limited was born! In July 2022, I became a qualified Canicross Coach (1 of the first 9 in the world!).

A dog-centred approach to canicross coaching
Canicross
Canicross is cross country running with your dog using a canicross belt, bungee line and harness that does not restrict your dogs movements. Canicross is a great way to build a close bond and exercise your dog, especially a dog with high energy levels or those that must stay on a lead. A dog must be fully developed and over the age of 1. They must start off gently putting their health first and gradually building their fitness and stamina to run.
Canihiking and Canitrekking
Canihiking is basically going for a walk with your dog using canicross kit (canicross belt, harness and bungee lead) rather than a traditional lead and collar. Your dog is under your full control but your hands are free to help you to negotiate the terrain or take photographs etc. Safety comes first and you know that when using canicross kit, your dog will always be near to you, especially by water, sudden drops or near livestock. Using the bungee lead, belt and harness reduces the risk of injury to yourself and your dog on your adventures in the countryside.
Canitrekking combines Canicross and Canihiking to develop skills and endurance for longer adventures.
